Solutions and Results

Congratulations to all of the teams! They created incredible displays of solutions in a short period of time. Teams presented a physical representation of their solution -- a model, a drawing, a diagram, a prototype, etc. See the images below for short descriptions of the teams' solutions.

Team, All-in. Solution: A game (an app) that connects humans with nature.

Team, Atlantic Sturgeon. Solution: App that monitors bee colony collapse disorder

Team, BioDEVersity. Solution: An app that shows which restaurants serve overfished seafood.

Team, Emission Impossible: Solution: A platform for scientists to broadcast their ecosystem research directly to the communities it affects, and mobilizes a crowd to take action

Team, Forward. Solution: When people add to their "smart" compost bin, they can see how it benefits green spaces and the services they provide in their area.

Team, Green Eggs and Sam. Solution: Small animal tracking using larger predator species outfitted with a chemical tracing tag.

Team, Kontinental Kompaktors. Solution: Detection of aquatic invasive species in photos via image recognition software.

Team, Paw 2017. Solution: Passive algae collection device to reduce algae concentrations in sensitive coral areas.

Team, Quad Delts. Solution: Rapid screening for invasive species using eDNA (in holding tanks) and VOC sampling (in shipping containers)

Team, Sun Devils for Sustainability. Solution: Preservation system on the docks in small scale fisheries using solar powered cooling system and evaporative cooling windows in a shipping container.

Team Hephaestus. Solution: A customizable sensor platform to reinforce people's relationship with nature.

Team Red Panda. Solution: Fish storage system for small-scale fishing vessels using inexpensive materials to reduce spoilage.

Team, The Terramedics. Solution: Ingestible sensor for location and health data from indicator species for presence of new invasive species.

Team, The Mighty Morphin Innovators. Solution: An adaptable device to prevent plastics from entering the ocean via the waste stream.

Team, The Brothers from Barrett. Solution: Small, sensor-equipped AI spider robots to detect invasive species in shipping crates.

Team, Three Engineers and a Planner. Solution: Detection of invasive species in cargo using a hand-held near infrared spectroscopy device

Congratulations
